In the neighborhood of Brickton, New Jersey, Chloe Bose, to pay the bills, works as a clerk at Hollingsworth Gift Shop under the strict direction of manager Mrs. Berger, but Chloe's dream is to get out of the chorus where she's toiled on occasion and get the lead in a Broadway musical. Divorced father to preteen Angela, Jason Murphy, a native of Brickton, is a jingle writer who's had some success writing for regional commercials, this work which also pays the bills, although he would really like to write songs. It is along Holiday Lane, the street, so renamed for the Christmas season, where Hollingsworth is located, where Chloe and Jason meet. And it is them together that attracts the attention of Cora Lawson, affectionately referred to as Miss Cora, the longtime property owner of many of the commercial buildings along Holiday Lane. Under her production, Miss Cora wants to resurrect the Holiday Lane Christmas Concert to re-energize the Christmas spirit in the neighborhood, with Jason as the musical director and Chloe as the lead. As Miss Cora and Jason try to convince her that this neighborhood production may provide some needed exposure for Chloe, Jason who is falling for her, Chloe has to figure out her competing priorities, the number of callbacks for the Broadway musicals mostly promising, she getting turned down not for lack of talent, but things she cannot control, such as being too short, or too tall, or too young, or too old. Getting it right is of utmost importance this season for Chloe as Christmas is the end of her five year plan to succeed, or else move "home" to Detroit and forgo this performing dream and perhaps forgo a relationship with who is potentially her Mr. Right in the form of Jason.—Huggo
