Miriam's Sweet Treats, a bakery, has been a fixture in Providence, Rhode Island, for sixty-five years, the current owner/operator, Miriam's granddaughter Jessie Dale, running it now for five years. Jessie does everything at the bakery just the way Miriam would have done it in wanting to honor her memory. However, times are changing, and Howard, Jessie's enthusiastic business manager, wants Jessie and Jessie's baking assistant Beatrice to change with the times or risk the bakery not surviving in the long run. One of the changes Jessie has agreed to is to add custom wedding cakes to their product line. One of their first wedding cake orders is from Suzanne Cooper, a well known local fashion designer who will be a high profile client. While Jessie discovers that Suzanne is not at all the difficult client she was expecting, she also bonds with Suzanne's widowed brother, commercial real estate agent Aidan Cooper, and Aidan's five year old daughter Riley Cooper. In the middle of Suzanne's time as wedding cake client, Jessie faces a business crisis that both Suzanne and Aidan try to provide support in helping her work through the issue. That support may actually cause some problems in Jessie and Aidan's burgeoning romance, that is unless in part Jessie can envision something different than the bakery she knows as her grandmother's.—Huggo
