A sextet of sophisticated Oslo friends travels to the Østerdalen valley to visit reclusive Bjørn Werner, the brother of one of them, who lives in a weather-battered cabin with his hunting dog. However, legend has it that a horrible tragedy occurred at a nearby lake, and whoever stays in that lodge will meet his end in the same watery grave. Then, the unsuspecting visitors realise that Werner is missing, setting in motion a series of unexplained incidents that chill the bone to the marrow.
